ADU

We're huge fans of accessory dwelling units at RADesign.  Over the last few years we've completed several of them.  State and local zoning laws have been relaxed to allow their construction on most residential parcels.  Our client hired us to do the design work for both the primary residence and this ADU in Berkeley, CA.

This little residence, only 497 square feet, packs a big punch in a small package.  It includes a cozy living room, a full kitchen with space for a small table, a built-in office space, a spacious bath with a tub, and a comfortable bedroom with abundant storage.

Large windows and glass doors bring the outdoors and lots of natural light in.  The original plans included sliding barn doors that allowed the office space to be opened up to either the living area or the kitchen.

Construction of this ADU was completed in January 2020.  I've included both the original renderings that were provided to the client, as well as, photos of the completed project.  They demonstate how a conceptual project can ultimately come to life.

If you're interested in building one of these sweet little units for yourself, we'd love to hear from you!
